themain female protagonist Chunhyang longs for her beloved after he left
is illustrated in the story by a lengthy Chunhyang’s “cry”, and “Sangsa-
byeolgok”makes up the bigger part of it.
Let us trace those specific features of the text that help discovering
the main theme of the poem, i. e. longing of a woman left behind by her
beloved. It is reasonable todealwith thisaspect throughanalyzing themode
serving thebase for the text structure: themodeofoppositional juxtaposing.
Thereare several juxtapositionexamples in the textwhichmaybe statedas
a number of time-oppositions and space-oppositions.
1. Space oppositions: а) the female narrator— the rest of the people;
b) the space of the narrator— the outer space.
2. Time oppositions: а) time before the separation— time after the
separation; b) spring— autumn; c) day—night.
