Among the 10000ofmatters related to separation in the humanworld
The saddest is to sleep alone in an empty room.
Who else canknow the emotions I feel
When I long formybeloved and cannot see him?
I am embarrassed andgloomy,
I quitted all the things I used to care for.
When I am sleepingor I am awake—whenever
Myheart aches because I cannot seemybeloved.
His bright face, his gentle voice
Is inmy eyes, is inmy ears.
The face ofmybeloved Iwish to see
The voice ofmybeloved Iwish tohear.
I beg the heavens
I beg tomakemybeloved appear.
Forwhat fault in this life or former life
Wewere born to thisworld andmade a promise not todie for 100years,
And here I am— as if in the deepmountains in 10000 layers.
Willmybeloved look forme?
Themountains layer on andon andmake passes
Abrookflows andmakes amarsh.
By autumnnight at paulownia trees
Because of the brightmoon
I thinkofmybeloved again.
After youonce parted and left
It is difficult to come back.
Do thousands of gold, pearls and jade
Have anymeaning in theworld?
Abrookbecomes a stream
Deep, deep, so deep.
Love becomes amountain
High, high, sohigh.
And ifwe can not know if themountain falls down,
How canwe know if [the stream] ends?
Is it because the heaven envies?
